Book a MenB Vaccination Appointment: Eligibility, Booking and Pharmacy Information
The MenB (meningococcal B) vaccine helps protect against meningococcal group B disease. Eligible young people in England can use the NHS service to book, manage or cancel their vaccination appointments.
Who Can Book a MenB Vaccination?
You can use the NHS online booking service if you:
- Are aged 17 to 18
- Were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008
- Are registered with a GP surgery in England
If you are not registered with a GP, you can find information on how to register with a GP surgery.
MenB vaccination services are also available across the UK, although arrangements differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
How Many MenB Vaccine Doses Are Needed?
The MenB vaccination programme consists of 2 doses.
The two doses must be given at least 4 weeks apart.
If you are booking your first dose, remember to arrange your second dose after receiving the first one.
What Can You Do Through the NHS Booking Service?

Some people may also be eligible to receive a MenB vaccination at a participating pharmacy.
You may be eligible if you were born on or after 21 July 2001 and, for the first time this autumn, you are:
- Starting university
- Starting at certain further education colleges as a residential student
International students and students from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Manmay also be eligible. Students travelling abroad to study may also qualify under the relevant arrangements.
You will need to provide evidence of your university or college offer when attending the pharmacy.
One advantage of the pharmacy service is that you do not need to be registered with a GP to receive the MenB vaccine there.
