📢 Attention Nigerians traveling to the UK!
If you’re planning a trip before or on June 1, 2025, make sure to bring your expired Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) with you.
The Home Office has extended the grace period for expired BRPs until June 1, 2025. However, from June 2, 2025, expired BRPs and EUSS Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs) will no longer be accepted as proof of immigration status when entering the UK.
Key Points to Note:
✅ If your BRP or EUSS BRC expired on or after December 31, 2024, you can still use it for foreign travel until June 1, 2025.
✅ From June 2, 2025, you’ll need a valid eVisa or another form of proof for re-entry.
✅ If you haven’t already, create a UKVI account to access your eVisa—it’s free and easy to set up.
Why Switch to an eVisa?
🔹 More secure & accessible – No need for physical documents.
🔹 Convenient for travel – Linked directly to your passport.
🔹 Future-proof – The UK is moving towards a fully digital immigration system.
Those with Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) who still rely on an ink stamp or vignette should also switch to an eVisa to avoid any travel disruptions.
Stay informed and plan ahead! Share this with fellow Nigerians in the UK to ensure no one gets caught out by these changes.
