How to Apply for a Nigerian Police Character Certificate for Immigration Purposes

Are you a Nigerian planning to travel abroad and need a Police Character Certificate (PCC) for immigration purposes? You may be able to apply online from the comfort of your home without relying on an agent.

⏳ Estimated processing time: 5–10 working days. Processing times may vary.

📌 Requirements for the Application

Before you begin, prepare the following information and documents:

✅ Full name
✅ NIN or BVN number
✅ Email address
✅ Nigerian residential address
✅ Local Government Area (LGA)
✅ State of origin
✅ Reason for the application
✅ Destination country
✅ A clear, scanned passport photograph
✅ A scanned copy of your international passport

📱 Important: Make Sure Your NIN Phone Number Is Active

Ensure that you have access to the phone number linked to your National Identification Number (NIN).

Some identity-verification processes require a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered phone number. If you no longer have access to that number, you may encounter delays while completing your application or verifying your identity.

Take a moment to confirm that your NIN is linked to a phone number you can access. It could save you time and unnecessary stress.

⚠️ Be Careful About Extra Charges

Before making any payment, check the official Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSA) website for the applicable Police Character Certificate fee.

According to the notice provided, the Nigeria Police Force is not responsible for additional charges imposed by third parties or individuals beyond the official fee. Any extra payment made to an intermediary is at your own discretion.

Tip: Always use the official application portal, verify the current fee and requirements, and keep your payment receipts.
