If you’re a Nigerian living in the UK and missing a taste of home—or simply up for discovering something fresh, bold, and rooted in African culture—Eko Brewery is your next must-visit (or must-order)!
🌍 Proudly African, Proudly Local
Founded by Anthony and Helena in 2018, Eko Brewery is a Black-owned business based in Peckham, South London, bringing the bold, authentic flavours of Africa to the UK’s buzzing craft beer scene. Their beers are 100% vegan, brewed with love and a deep respect for African brewing traditions.
And the name? Eko is the original Yoruba name for Lagos, Nigeria’s cultural and economic capital—an ode to their roots and Anthony’s heritage.

👥 Meet the Founders: Naija to the World!
Anthony
A laid-back craft beer enthusiast with a passion that began in Japan and matured in the US during a 12-month secondment. There, Anthony discovered how microbreweries were bringing people together over great drinks. That inspired him to bring the same vibe to London—infused with African flair.
Helena
Initially a spirits-and-lager fan, Helena was drawn into the world of craft beers while visiting Anthony in the States. Their shared love for African heritage and good beer led her to co-found this one-of-a-kind brewery.
🍺 Beers with Culture & Big Ideas
From the Embracing Otherness IPA—a powerful single-hop beer brewed with Simcoe and featured in Tesco’s Beer With Big Ideas 4-pack—to their Eko Pale Ale, Eko Haze, and Eko Shandy, every brew carries a story.
These aren’t just beers—they’re conversations. They’re an open invitation to Nigerians and other underrepresented communities to join the UK craft beer movement.
“We wanted to create something for people who don’t usually see themselves in the craft beer space. Our beers are for everyone—especially our people.” – The Eko Team
