Job Overview
As a youth and community worker, you will engage, support, and empower young people and community members through programs, outreach initiatives, and relationship-building. Your role will involve creating safe spaces, offering guidance, and organizing activities that support personal, social, and spiritual growth. You will collaborate with schools, families, community organizations, and faith-based institutions to address local challenges, promote positive lifestyles, and enhance inclusivity and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee social, educational, and recreational programs for youth groups and the community.
- Manage daily operations of community centers and coordinate volunteer and part-time staff.
- Support and guide volunteers leading groups in churches, mosques, and other community spaces.
- Provide advice and support to individuals facing personal challenges through structured discussions and informal interactions.
Requirements
- A degree or diploma in Education, Theology, Social Work, Youth Work, Community Development, or related fields.
- Level 2 or Level 3 National Youth Agency-accredited qualification (apprenticeships are available).
- Proven experience (paid or volunteer) in youth and/or community work.
- Strong understanding of risk management, youth development, and safety regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to plan and facilitate workshops, community events, and group activities.
- Awareness of the social, emotional, and spiritual issues affecting youth and communities.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Enhanced DBS check and background checks required.
