About the Role
A well-established fish store and delicatessen in Essex is seeking a dedicated Fishmonger to join its growing team. Working under the supervision of the Head Manager, you will be responsible for preparing, handling, and presenting seafood products while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and customer service.
The workplace is located in the RM12 postcode area near Elm Park Station in Essex.
Key Responsibilities
As a Fishmonger, your duties will include:
- Preparing seafood products including scaling, gutting, filleting, trimming, and packaging fish.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across preparation and storage areas.
- Recording daily temperatures of chillers, fridges, and freezers.
- Displaying fresh fish and seafood products attractively for customers.
- Monitoring stock levels and checking product freshness daily.
- Following food safety and health regulations at all times.
- Assisting customers with seafood preparation requests.
- Supporting team members in maintaining efficient daily operations.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants should have:
- A minimum of 2 years of fishmongering experience.
- Strong knowledge of fish and shellfish handling and preparation.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and time-management skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical tasks when required.
Preferred: Applicants with 4 years or more of fishmongering experience will have an advantage.
