Operational Services Manager – NHS Sponsorship Available
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Operational Services Manager to join the Neurology Division at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool.
The successful candidate will join the Neurology Divisional Senior Team and report to the Clinical Business Manager. The role is focused on the day-to-day operational management of neurological services, service improvement, performance management and supporting high-quality patient care.
About the Role
The Operational Services Manager will provide operational leadership across the Neurology service and help ensure that clinical and non-clinical services meet agreed performance, quality and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Neurology service.
- Providing operational leadership across specialist services.
- Supporting pathway development and service improvement initiatives.
- Monitoring data quality, KPIs and operational performance.
- Ensuring waiting-time targets and contracted activity levels are achieved.
- Supporting activity planning and capacity-and-demand modelling.
- Identifying service risks, improvement opportunities and potential hazards.
- Supporting the delivery of Cost Improvement Plans (CIP).
- Managing budgets and financial responsibilities within designated areas.
- Supporting divisional transformation projects.
- Working with senior managers to improve the quality and efficiency of patient services.
- Providing effective leadership during challenging operational situations.

The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist NHS organisation providing treatment and care in neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management.
Based in Fazakerley, Liverpool, the Trust provides specialist services to patients across the UK and beyond.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A degree or equivalent level of experience.
- Relevant management or leadership training or qualification.
- Evidence of recent continuing professional development (CPD).
Desirable
- IHRIM qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Experience working in a healthcare environment in a management or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of NHS targets and key performance indicators.
- Understanding of NHS national guidance and governance requirements.
- Knowledge of risk management, complaints procedures and NHS governance processes.
- Understanding of NHS and Trust priorities and objectives.
- Knowledge of information governance, GDPR and data-quality requirements.
- Experience in service planning and organisation.
- Experience in service development or change management.
- Experience preparing reports and business cases.
- Experience developing policies and procedures.
- Experience managing staff and maintaining effective employee relationships.
- Experience working with different staff groups.
- Understanding of HR processes, including recruitment, appraisal and performance management.
- Experience with timesheets or related workforce systems.
- Experience analysing budgets and developing Cost Improvement Plans (CIP).
