Job Overview
The successful candidate will lead the delivery of high-quality nursing care, oversee care planning and support the development of staff and learners within the ward.
The Ward Manager will work with the Clinical Manager/Matron and other senior leaders while taking responsibility for the effective management and delivery of care.
Key Responsibilities
The Ward Manager will be expected to:
- Assess patients’ care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care programmes.
- Lead and monitor the delivery of high-quality mental health care.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and community teams.
- Support the training, education and development of students and other learners.
- Develop objectives for care delivery and monitor their implementation.
- Support the development of nursing practice across inpatient wards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant NHS policies, procedures and legislation.
- Investigate and report incidents, complaints and accidents appropriately.
- Lead infection-control activities within the ward.
- Support audits, research and continuous service improvement.
- Work with Human Resources on staff-related matters.
- Promote professional standards in line with the NMC Code.
