NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting a compassionate and experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the team at Skye House, an inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.
This is an important clinical and leadership role within a multidisciplinary team providing safe, evidence-based and person-centred care to children and young people experiencing severe mental health challenges.
Visa Sponsorship
The role may offer a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where the applicant and position meet the applicable UK Home Office sponsorship requirements.
Sponsorship eligibility will be assessed against current immigration rules and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s sponsorship policies. Applicants should confirm their individual eligibility before applying.
Working Hours
The position is available in different working patterns:
- Full-time: 36 hours per week
- Part-time: 14.4 hours per week
- Full-time schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Part-time schedule: Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Contract: Various/temporary arrangements
- Base: Skye House, Stobhill Hospital AIPU
About the Role
As a Care Manager/Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership and support the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality care to young people aged 12–17.
You will contribute to assessment, treatment, care coordination and multidisciplinary decision-making while ensuring that care remains safe, effective and responsive to the needs of young people and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Providing high-quality, evidence-based mental health care to children and young people.
- Supporting and coordinating the nursing team to maintain high standards of care.
- Supervising care delivery and coordinating individual care plans.
- Coordinating staff and other resources to support safe and effective services.
- Applying sound, trauma-informed clinical judgement.
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals.
- Supporting communication and continuity of care between families, community teams and external agencies.
- Contributing to assessment, diagnosis and treatment interventions.
- Supporting young people with a range of mental health conditions and neurodiverse presentations.
- Acting as a Care Manager and helping coordinate care among key stakeholders.
- Promoting person-centred, safe and inclusive care.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A recognised Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification.
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrable leadership and care coordination skills.
- Experience using trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience monitoring and evaluating care delivery.
- Knowledge of resource management and workforce coordination.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health assessment and treatment for children and adolescents.
- An understanding of the needs of young people with neurodiverse presentations and mental health difficulties.
- A commitment to professional development, collaborative working and continuous improvement.
