About the Role

As a Nursing Support Worker, you will support nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering outstanding care to patients admitted to the Acute Medical Assessment Unit.

The AMAU includes 24 inpatient beds and 3 resuscitation beds, caring for patients admitted through emergency services, GP referrals, outpatient clinics, and urgent care pathways.

This role offers valuable experience working with acutely ill patients while developing your clinical skills within one of NHS Wales’ leading healthcare organisations.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Assisting nurses in delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
• Carrying out delegated clinical observations.
• Monitoring patients and reporting changes in their condition.
• Supporting patients with personal care and daily activities.
• Working collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
• Providing compassionate care in a busy acute medical environment.
• Following NHS infection prevention, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Previous experience in a Nursing Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, or similar healthcare role.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A caring, compassionate, and patient-focused approach.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Flexibility to work rotating day and night shifts.
• A willingness to learn and develop professionally within the NHS.
