Working Pattern
- Permanent contract
- Full-Time: 36 hours per week
- Part-Time: 33.18 hours per week
- Based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Rotational shifts, including flexible working patterns
- Part-time salary paid on a pro-rata basis
Main Responsibilities
As a Health Care Support Worker, you will:
- Deliver compassionate, high-quality personal care while maintaining patients’ dignity and independence.
- Support patients with everyday activities, including eating, washing, dressing and mobility.
- Assist Registered Nurses and multidisciplinary teams in delivering safe and effective patient care.
- Observe patients closely and promptly report any changes in their physical or mental wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with healthcare colleagues.
- Assist with housekeeping duties, stock management and ensuring equipment is used safely.
- Follow all NHS policies, infection prevention procedures and health and safety guidelines.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Successful applicants should have:
- SVQ Level II in a relevant subject or equivalent practical experience gained through training or previous employment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- A caring, compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
- Good teamwork skills and the ability to work under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality, dignity, respect and person-centred care.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or caring environment is desirable but not essential.
