The Role

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work alongside Registered Nurses and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide safe, compassionate, and person-centred care to patients.

• Position: Healthcare Support Worker
• Employer: NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)
• Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, Scotland
• Contract: Permanent
• Working Hours:
  • Full-time: 36 hours per week
  • Part-time: 33.18 hours per week
• Shift Pattern: Rotational and fully flexible
• Salary: Pro-rata for part-time positions

Key Responsibilities

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will:

• Deliver high-quality personal care with dignity, compassion, and respect.
• Support patients with daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, dressing, and mobility.
• Assist Registered Nurses and the multidisciplinary team in delivering safe and effective patient care.
• Monitor patients’ physical and emotional wellbeing, reporting any concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Assist with ward housekeeping duties, stock management, and equipment safety.
• Follow NHS policies, infection prevention procedures, and health and safety guidelines at all times.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should have:

• An SVQ Level II qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working in a caring or healthcare environment (preferred but not essential).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a busy healthcare setting.
• Strong observation skills and the ability to identify changes in patients’ conditions.
• A good understanding of confidentiality, dignity, safeguarding, and person-centred care.
• The ability to work collaboratively under the supervision of Registered Nurses and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A caring, compassionate, and professional approach to patient care.
