Get Sponsored to Volunteer in the UK: Charity Worker Visa Opportunity
UK Charity Worker Visa Sponsorship
Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer in the UK while gaining valuable experience in the charity and care sector?
Glencraig has a long history of welcoming international volunteers. Since the 1960s, around 20–40 international volunteers have joined the organisation each year, with many staying for at least 12 months.
The organisation also welcomes local volunteers and students who want to support people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers and students may be involved in several areas, including:
Residential Services
Support people with learning disabilities within a residential setting.
School Placements
Assist children with learning disabilities and complex needs in educational environments.
Training College
Support daytime activities for people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Environmental & Gardening Projects
Get involved in practical outdoor, environmental and gardening activities.
International Volunteers
International volunteers are generally based within the residential environment at Glencraig. Depending on availability and individual circumstances, opportunities may also be available in other areas.
International students are normally placed in roles connected to their course of study, subject to suitable placements being available.
Application Process
The application process is completed in three main stages:
Stage 1 – Online Application & Interview
Applicants complete an online application form. Suitable candidates may then be invited to a Skype interview. Applicants will be informed after the interview if they have been selected.
Stage 2 – AccessNI Check
Successful applicants must complete an AccessNI criminal record check and provide Glencraig with the required supporting documents.
Stage 3 – UK Charity Worker Visa
International volunteers who require immigration permission to enter the UK can proceed with their Charity Worker visa application after receiving the necessary AccessNI approval.
The overall process can take approximately 3–5 months, so applicants should plan accordingly.
