Community Support Worker/Trainee – UK Visa Sponsorship
Job Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for a Community Support Worker/Trainee to join an Adult Crisis Team supporting individuals and families in the community.
The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care and support to service users. The role involves working within the community and the 136 Suite at Foss Park Hospital in York, while developing a strong understanding of local support services and resources.
You should be able to communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds and adapt your communication style to meet individual needs with compassion, patience and respect.
The team is looking for people who can work independently while benefiting from regular managerial and clinical supervision, support and professional development.

Key Responsibilities
As a Community Support Worker/Trainee, you will:
- Provide care and support under the direction of registered clinicians.
- Assist with group activities and non-pharmacological interventions.
- Monitor and report changes in service users’ mental and physical health.
- Communicate important information about patients’ progress and changing needs.
- Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering responsive and appropriate care.
- Contribute to physical health monitoring within the community team.
- Carry out clinical checks such as NEWS observations and ECGs following appropriate training.
- Support safe monitoring of patients during medication changes.
- Help identify potential health risks at an early stage.
- Develop effective working relationships with colleagues and partner services.
- Support individuals experiencing acute distress within the 136 Suite.
The successful candidate will also be required to complete Positive and Safe Care training relevant to working with people experiencing acute distress.

Essential Requirements
The successful applicant must have, or be able to achieve, the required healthcare and education qualifications.
Key requirements include:
- Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to complete the required qualification.
- Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or above.
- Completion of the Trust’s Healthcare Assistant competencies during the probationary period where required.
- Ability to work independently while receiving appropriate clinical and managerial support.
- A valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for business travel.
Candidates who do not initially meet the required qualification standards may be expected to complete the Healthcare Assistant Framework, including:
- Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent.
- Required workplace competencies within two years of starting the role.

Additional Information
Due to the community-based nature of the position, applicants must be able to travel independently throughout the area using a suitable vehicle for work-related journeys.
