Sunset Pier Café, a popular waterfront destination known for its relaxed atmosphere, live entertainment, and community events, is looking for a dynamic Café Manager to oversee daily operations, lead the team, and create memorable guest experiences.

Job Responsibilities

As Café Manager, you will:

• Oversee daily café operations, working 5 days per week, including weekends when required.
• Lead, coach, train, and schedule front-of-house staff and baristas.
• Prepare high-quality coffee and maintain consistent beverage standards while mentoring team members.
• Develop seasonal menus, daily specials, and beverage offerings tailored to the café’s waterfront clientele.
• Organise and manage events such as live music, pop-up markets, and private functions.
• Monitor inventory, place supplier orders, manage stock levels, and control operating costs.
• Assist with budgeting and basic financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.
• Resolve customer enquiries professionally and maintain excellent customer relationships.

Requirements

To be considered, you should have:

• At least 2 years of proven management experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
• Strong hands-on barista experience, including operating espresso machines and beverage preparation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Experience with staff rostering and time management.
• Knowledge of menu planning, food costing, and stock control.
• Event planning experience is an advantage.
• A customer-focused attitude with flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
• A valid food safety certificate and legal work eligibility (visa sponsorship available for the right candidate).
