We are proud to highlight the inspiring achievements of Nigerians making waves in the UK! Dr. Tolu Olusoga, a distinguished Nigerian medical professional, has been appointed as the new Medical Director of our Trust.
Dr. Olusoga brings with him extensive experience in clinical leadership and patient care. His journey began in Nigeria, where he earned his medical degree in 1999 from the University of Lagos. He later moved to the UK to pursue advanced studies, earning an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience from University College London in 2002.
Since joining the NHS in 2003, Dr. Olusoga has excelled in various senior roles, including gaining membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2006 and becoming a Consultant Psychiatrist for Older Adults in 2010. Most recently, he served as Group Medical Director for the North Yorkshire-York Care Group at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, where he was instrumental in service development and quality improvement.
Dr. Olusoga’s commitment to delivering outstanding care for patients and empowering staff is unwavering. He shared:

His appointment follows the announcement that Medical Director, Dr. Minoo Irani, will retire in March 2025. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Irani for his years of dedicated service.
