Dr. Oluwasegun Afolaranmi is building an impressive career at the intersection of medicine, scientific research and mentorship, taking his journey from Nigeria to the forefront of cancer research in the United Kingdom. After graduating from the University of Ibadan College of Medicine in 2019, Afolaranmi continued his professional journey in the UK, joining the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. Afolaranmi is investigating how this pathway influences natural killer (NK) cells—specialised immune cells that can recognise abnormal cells and destroy tumour cells.
