Yesterday, members of the Nigerian and wider Black community in Derby came together for the final Fade Therapy session of 2025, and it was a truly fitting way to close the year. The atmosphere was warm, reflective, and honest — filled with open hearts, real conversations, thoughtful feedback, and something we don’t always get enough of: healthy male bonding.
For many of the men in the room, Fade Therapy once again proved to be a safe space — a place to talk, listen, reflect, and grow without judgement. The willingness of participants to show up fully, speak openly, and support one another is what continues to make this initiative so impactful within our community.
A special appreciation goes to Dharmesh Patel, Prevent Coordinator at Derby City Council, who joined the session and engaged openly with participants. His contribution to discussions around safeguarding young people, online harms, and preventing exposure to harmful content and behaviours was timely, relevant, and deeply valued — especially for parents, mentors, and community leaders in attendance.
We also extend our gratitude to Tanvir Akram and Dave Powell, who led the first session of the programme earlier in the year. Their thoughtful exploration of identity, masculinity, and what it truly means to be a man helped set the tone for the entire Fade Therapy journey — conversations that many attendees say stayed with them long after the sessions ended.

As 2025 comes to a close, the work does not stop. Fade Therapy returns in January 2026, ready to continue the journey of healing, dialogue, and personal growth.
