What a weekend of football, unity, and African pride in Derby! The maiden Derby African Union Community Football Competition brought together Africans from across the city for a day of excitement and celebration.
🥉 Team Nigeria proudly clinched 3rd place, showing skill, passion, and true Naija spirit on the pitch. 🙌🏾 Our boys represented us well, reminding everyone that Naija no dey carry last!
🏆 Congratulations to Team Cameroon (1st place) and Team Sudan (2nd place) for their outstanding performances.
This tournament is just the beginning of what promises to become an annual tradition — a chance for Africans in Derby to come together, showcase talent, and strengthen community ties.
The event was organised by the Derby African Union (DAU), a Community Interest Company committed to supporting Africans in Derby with advice, information, and initiatives that benefit our families and communities.
💡 Upcoming DAU projects include a school uniform drive and educational support programmes for children in the community — key initiatives that will also benefit many Nigerian families in Derby.
At Naija UK Connect, we celebrate these wins and continue to spotlight the contributions of Nigerians in the UK — from the football field to business, education, and beyond.
