Nigerian professionals and founders in the UK continue to make strong contributions across the country’s growing technology and startup ecosystem, and today’s Tech Derby Pre-Seed Funding Readiness Programme was another example of that impact in action.
The event brought together founders, investors, ecosystem leaders, and business support organisations to help early-stage entrepreneurs better understand what is required before approaching investors, funders, grant providers, and strategic partners.

Among the notable speakers and attendees was Dami Owolabi of LemFi, who shared valuable insights from a marketing and business growth perspective. His contribution highlighted the importance of strategic positioning, customer growth, and sustainable scaling for startups navigating the competitive UK business environment.

Also present were Tech Derby City Founders including Dr Sam Osinowo, Olatunji Olawale, Akindayo Akindolani (Founder of TechDerby), Cllr. Ndukwe Onouha, Nnamdi Ifegwu alongside key industry stakeholders such as Lewis Stringer from the British Business Bank, Amber from Mercia Ventures, and Chris from Derby City Council.

The programme focused on supporting founders who are still developing their ideas, building MVPs, validating market demand, or preparing investor pitches. For many early-stage entrepreneurs, particularly those from immigrant and diaspora communities, access to this kind of knowledge and network can play a major role in business success.

Events like this continue to demonstrate the growing presence and influence of Nigerians in the UK technology, fintech, and entrepreneurship sectors. From startup innovation to leadership and community development, Nigerians across the diaspora are increasingly helping shape the future of business and technology in the UK.

Naija UK Connect celebrates these milestones and remains committed to spotlighting Nigerians making impact across industries and communities throughout the United Kingdom.
