Top Destinations to Avoid If You’re Looking for a Stress-Free Holiday
At the end of last year, we highlighted the most relaxing places to visit around the globe. But not every city is blessed with a calm and easy lifestyle. Now, we bring you the opposite side of the coin – the world’s most stressful cities to visit. Hold your breath, Nigerians in the UK, as we take you through this list.
A new study by scuba and snorkelling company DIPNDIVE has ranked the top 10 least tourist-friendly cities based on several factors such as visitor numbers, noise levels, air quality, transport costs, and crime rates. Each city was rated on a scale of 0 to 100, with the higher the score, the more stressful it is for tourists.
1. Las Vegas, USA
Las Vegas, known as Sin City, takes the top spot with a score of 95. With 187,000 visitors per 100,000 residents, the city is constantly crowded, making it hard to avoid the hustle and bustle. There’s also the constant noise, making it a bit of a stressful destination for those looking for peace. Though meals and transport are fairly affordable, navigating through Vegas might feel overwhelming. If you’re planning a visit, perhaps look for a quiet Airbnb for some relaxation.
2. San Francisco, USA
San Francisco follows closely behind with a score of 93. This city is known for its steep hills and vibrant culture, but unfortunately, it also has a high stress factor due to overcrowding and expensive transport.
3. New York City, USA
The Big Apple comes in third with a score of 83. Known for its fast-paced lifestyle, constant noise, and never-ending crowd, New York is undoubtedly one of the most stressful places to visit. But hey, if you’re Nigerian and in the mood for an adventure, it’s definitely an experience!
Other Stressful Cities on the List
- London (80)
- Los Angeles (79)
- Zurich (76)
- San Diego (76)
- Milan (72)
- Portland (72)
- Paris (70)
These cities, although popular travel destinations, might not be ideal for those looking for a calm holiday. Interestingly, many of these cities are trending destinations this spring according to Airbnb, so whether you’re planning a visit or just curious, it’s important to keep these factors in mind when picking your next vacation spot.
Looking for a More Relaxed Getaway?
If you’re hoping to avoid stress while traveling, consider exploring less crowded and quieter destinations. For Nigerians in the UK, there are plenty of serene spots in Europe and beyond that offer much-needed peace and relaxation without the chaos.
