The highly anticipated Meltdown Festival 2025 has revealed its curator β none other than Simbiatu “Simbi” Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, better known as Little Simz! π€π₯
Born in Islington, London, to Nigerian parents, Little Simz has always been vocal about her heritage, infusing elements of her Yoruba roots into her music and creative projects. This latest milestone places her among legendary past curators like David Bowie, Yoko Ono, Grace Jones, and Chaka Khan, cementing her influence in the UK music scene.
The Mercury Prize-winning rapper, actor, and Brit Award winner promises an electrifying lineup, featuring local talents, grassroots collectives, and boundary-pushing performances. The festival, running from June 12 to 22 at the Southbank Centre, will be a celebration of art, music, and culture β with a headline performance from Simz herself! π
Reflecting on her appointment, she shared:
“I’m super excited to be the 2025 Meltdown festival curator! My team and I are preparing eleven days of art, music, workshops, and more. So many incredible artists have curated this festival, so it’s a true honour to be a part of it. Thank you to the Southbank Centre for having me. Meltdown 2025 the Simz way is going to be epic. I’ll see you there.”
For Nigerians in the UK, this is a must-attend event! π³π¬β¨ With Simz at the helm, expect a festival that embraces African influences while celebrating Londonβs diverse creative scene.
