Afro Medic Mentors, a platform founded by Dr. Ogechi Eze alongside esteemed mentors Dr. Chudi Ufondu, Dr. Uchechukwu Eleazu, Dr. Omon Imohi, Dr. Kayode Olamide Sinmidele Valentine, Dr. Uzoamaka C. Ezenwugo MBBS MWACP, and Dr. Anthonia Chibuogwu Mbah, is making waves in the medical community. Based in the UK, these passionate professionals are committed to giving back to society by empowering Nigerian medics through mentorship, education, and community-building initiatives.
Known for its focus on revising medical lectures, discussing clinical scenarios, and providing mentorship, Afro Medic Mentors brought a burst of creativity and festivity this season with their Party Flyer/Video Challenge among geographical regions in Nigeria.
A Celebration of Culture and Talent
Each region was challenged to design flyers and videos that embodied the flavor, character, and essence of their local culture, as practiced in their medical schools or hospitals. These designs celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity while highlighting the artistic talent within the Afro Medic Mentors community.
Organizers also emphasized the potential for participants to become medical illustrators, likening their creativity to Frank Netter, the renowned author of Atlas of Human Anatomy.
The Coordinators Who Brought the Vision to Life
Each region’s submission was spearheaded by dedicated coordinators:
- Northern Region: Imrana of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, whose team ultimately won the competition.
- Eastern Region: Lawrence Gift of Alex Ekwueme University, Ebonyi State, who ensured the Eastern Region’s flyer reflected their pride and creativity.
- Southern Region: Rose Gobo of the University of Calabar, whose vibrant design embodied the Southern Region’s rich culture.
- Western Region: Dr. Blessing Amatemeso (interim coordinator), who inspired the Western Region’s dynamic submission.
While the Northern Region claimed the grand prize, the efforts of all coordinators and their teams were highly commendable, contributing to the spirit of unity and friendly competition within the Afro Medic Mentors community.
Northern Region Takes the Spotlight
With their creative and culturally rich flyer, the Northern Region emerged victorious, capturing the community’s admiration and earning the grand prize. Their submission stood out for its originality and representation of the region’s unique cultural flavor.
A Weekend of Festivities
The competition doesn’t end with the flyers. Party videos and pictures are set to be shared over the weekend, promising even more excitement and celebration within the Afro Medic Mentors community.
